Chandigarh, August 7 – Haryana Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Friday paid humble floral tribute to Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his punyatithi at Lok Bhavan, remembering him as one of India’s greatest literary and cultural icons whose enduring legacy transcends geographical, linguistic and temporal boundaries.

Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that Tagore was a profound voice of India’s spiritual and humanistic heritage and made an unparalleled contribution to literature, music, education, philosophy and social thought.

“Rabindranath Tagore was not merely a literary genius but a towering cultural and intellectual force who gave a universal expression to the profound humanistic traditions of India. His extraordinary contribution enriched literature, music, education, philosophy and social thought, leaving an indelible imprint on the cultural consciousness of India and the world,” the Governor said.

Prof Ghosh said Tagore’s works continue to inspire generations because of their timeless relevance and universal appeal.

“Tagore’s timeless words and expansive humanism remind us that true greatness transcends borders, languages and ages. His vision of humanity, harmony and universal brotherhood remains deeply relevant even today. His life and works will always inspire us to build a society founded on compassion, creativity, knowledge and mutual respect,” he said.
