Chandigarh, August 6- In a major step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the state, the Haryana Government has approved the upgradation of a Primary Health Centre (PHC) into a Community Health Centre (CHC) and the establishment of a new Primary Health Centre. The decision will provide thousands of residents in the rural areas of Ambala and Rewari districts with better access to quality and modern healthcare facilities closer to their homes.

Divulging more details in this regard, Health Minister, Ms Arti Singh Rao said that Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, while presenting the State Budget on March 2, 2026, had made several important announcements aimed at enhancing public welfare. Fulfilling one of those commitments, the Chief Minister has accorded administrative approval for the upgradation of the Primary Health Centre at Panjokhra Sahib in Ambala district into a Community Health Centre (CHC).

She said the upgraded CHC will significantly improve access to emergency healthcare services, specialist medical consultation and enhanced indoor patient facilities for the residents of Panjokhra Sahib and dozens of surrounding villages.

Sharing details of another key decision, the Health Minister said the Chief Minister has also approved the establishment of a new Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Sangwadi village in Rewari district. The new facility will ensure that residents of the area have easier access to primary healthcare services and basic diagnostic facilities, reducing the need to travel to distant towns and larger hospitals for routine treatment.

The Health Minister said these two decisions reaffirm the Haryana Government’s commitment to strengthening the public healthcare system and ensuring that quality primary and secondary healthcare services are made available to people in rural areas at their doorstep.
